Five poses every runner should know

Five poses every runner should know

Running is repetitive, and repetitive movement loves a bit of balance. These five poses take ten minutes.

1. Low lunge

Opens the hip flexors that tighten with every stride.

2. Downward dog

Lengthens calves and hamstrings. Pedal your feet to explore.

3. Pigeon (or figure four on your back)

Releases the outer hips and glutes.

Stretch after running, not before. Warm tissue responds better.

4. Supine twist

Relaxes the lower back after long runs.

5. Legs up the wall

Five minutes of rest that feels wonderful after a long run.
