Yin or restorative? Choosing your slow practice

Yin or restorative? Choosing your slow practice

Both are slow, quiet and floor based. The difference is in the intention.

Yin

Poses are held for three to five minutes with a mild, sustained stretch. The aim is to gently work connective tissue, so you'll feel sensation.

Restorative

Every pose is fully supported by props. The aim is complete rest, with little or no stretching sensation.

Yin asks you to stay with sensation. Restorative asks you to let go of effort.

Which is for you?

If you want a deep stretch, try yin. If you're tired, stressed or recovering, start with restorative. Our Yin & Restore class includes both.
