Built by lifters, for everyone
From two racks in a garage to a 12,000 sq ft warehouse on Foundry Street.
We wanted a gym where coaching came first
Marcus Hale opened Ironhouse in a rented garage with two squat racks, a borrowed sound system and eleven members. The idea was simple: small groups, real coaching and a place where nobody felt out of place.
Ten years later we have 2,400 members, nine full-time coaches and a warehouse built for lifting. The groups are still small, and the coaching still comes first.
- Coach-to-athlete ratio of 1:10 or better
- Every new member gets a movement screen
- No joining fees and no contracts
Four rules we coach by
Every coach at Ironhouse learns these in week one. They shape every class we run.
-
01
Technique before load
We add weight only when the movement is clean. Strength built on good positions lasts.
-
02
Show up, then show up again
Consistency beats intensity. We'd rather see you three times a week for a year than seven times for a month.
-
03
Everyone scales
Every movement has an easier and a harder version. The best athlete in the room and the newest member do the same class.
-
04
Leave ego at the door
No mirrors in the lifting area, no posing, no judgement. Just good work and people cheering for each other.
Same room, fourteen months apart
Ten years of heavy lifting
