Bringing home a new kitten: the first two weeks

Kittens are brave explorers, but a new home is a lot to take in. A calm start makes for a confident cat.

Start with one room

Set up a quiet room with food, water, a litter tray and a hiding spot. Let your kitten explore the rest of the house gradually.

Book a first check within a week

We check for fleas, worms and heart murmurs, and plan vaccines and microchipping.

Play with wand toys, never hands. Kittens who learn to pounce on fingers grow into cats who bite.

Handle paws and ears every day

Gentle handling now makes nail trims and vet visits far easier later.
