What counts as an emergency?

Call us straight away if you have

Pain that keeps you awake or does not ease with painkillers.

Chips, cracks and lost fillings or crowns.

Facial or gum swelling, which can signal infection.

Keep it in milk and come in within the hour.

Bleeding that will not stop after an extraction.

Broken wires or brackets that are cutting your mouth.

While you wait

Swelling

Hold a cold compress to your cheek for 15 minutes at a time.
Knocked-out tooth

Pick it up by the crown, rinse gently and store it in milk.
Pain

Ibuprofen and paracetamol together work well for most adults, following the pack instructions.
Avoid

Do not put aspirin on the gum. It burns the tissue.
