About this cause
Deforestation along the Grijalva river has left hillsides bare, and every rainy season washes more farmland away.
We pay local farming families to grow native seedlings in community nurseries and plant them along rivers and slopes. Fruit and timber trees are mixed in, so the forest earns an income too.
Survival rates are checked every six months, and farmers are paid for each tree still standing after two years.
