Mono Type Festival
Posters and wayfinding for a weekend festival of letterpress and wood type.
The problem
Mono is a volunteer-run weekend for letterpress printers. They had no budget, a lot of wood type and a hall full of enthusiasts willing to help.
So we printed everything by hand. I designed a system of posters, signs and tickets set entirely in the festival's own wood type collection, printed over two nights with twenty volunteers.
Outcomes
3,200 visitors
Double the previous year.
600 posters
Hand-printed, all sold.
$9k raised
For the workshop's new press.
20 volunteers
Two long nights, zero regrets.
