Mount Rainier meadows
Paradise and Sunrise are stunning in late July and August when the wildflowers peak. A special use permit is required.
Ruby Beach
Sea stacks, driftwood and fog. Go at low tide and bring warm layers even in summer.
Book the location before the dress. The best places need permits months in advance.
The Columbia River Gorge
Waterfalls within an hour of Portland, and plenty of quiet viewpoints on weekdays.
